Lake Como is one of the most iconic and romantic destinations throughout Italy! It delights with splendid weather and an array of luxurious establishments along its banks. Yet, few hotels stand out the way the historic Villa d’Este does. Lounging along the banks of Lake Como (20 minutes from Lugano Airport) Villa d’Este finds its roots in the Renaissance era. With 25 acres of pristine gardens and breathtaking interior designs, the hotel transports guests back in time.
The Hotel’s History & Décor
Built in 1568 and once the home of Princess Caroline of Brunswick, the hotel has retained much of its historical atmosphere and aesthetic. Its Murano chandeliers, grand staircases, and collection of scattered artworks lend a timeless feel to it. The 152 rooms and suites however display a more contemporary look! The blend of pastel colors, modern amenities, period furniture, elegant prints and luxurious fabrics do a fantastic job of communicating the look and feel of Renaissance Italy. The Suite’s position in the Queen’s Pavilion gives a sumptuous separate living room and balcony. You’ll experience a truly unique view of the Lake!
The hotel boasts the culinary expertise of Executive Chef Michele Zambanini, who oversees Villa d’Este’s four restaurants. La Veranda is the hotel’s main gastronomic outlet, presenting an elegant décor, a stunning menu and views over the property. Meanwhile, the Sundeck Bar brings guests right to the edge of the water. It’s ideal for taking a break throughout the day to sip on one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails.
