Aman Kyoto, Japan

The hotel is located in the northern district of the city, and is surrounded by important local landmarks, such as the Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion Temple, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Designed by the Singapore-based Kerry Hill Architects, Aman Kyoto is deeply rooted in the culture and heritage of the location. Made primarily of wood and stone, the hotel features a contemporary and minimalist design open to the outside that allows the surrounding garden to always be in full view. Whether it is in the common areas, such as the Living Pavilion Restaurant or the onsen bathing pools in the spa, or even throughout the 26 suites with their sober color palette, nature is always at the forefront. The visual motifs are repeated in the culinary area of the hotel, featuring similar furniture but with a darker color palette.
