Goldsmith and coppersmith
Yahya is a self-taught designer and artist who was born and raised in London. However, on a trip to Marrakech in order to discover some of his heritage, he immediately fell in love with the beauty of the light, and saw how that could be incorporated in the art of light-sculptures and metalworking. He opened a workshop and a gallery in 2005 to showcase his collections of lighting, decorative pieces, architectural elements and artworks. His work resides in some of the most beautiful private homes and luxury hotels around the world, such as the hotel Royal Mansour.
The coppersmith of the Ochre City, known as "The Fairy Hands”
This immersion is one of the most personal experiences offered by Lartisien. During the program, you will have the opportunity to meet with Yahya and not only learn about the art of copperware that was developed in the 14th century in Morocco, but also about his personal journey with this particular form of art. You will discover the traditional Moroccan art craft, at his workshop, and his own work, which have been described as “discreet and timeless”, for their simplicity and purity. You will totally lose yourself in his world and work.
